Volunteer Day – Waking up the kitchen garden

Our kitchen garden is a hugely valued part of the farm – it’s where children staying with us experience first hand the joy of sowing, growing, and trying food directly from the ground. There is such satisfaction in getting your hands in the soil, sowing some seeds, and seeing what grows.
March is such an exciting month, anticipating the season to come, with it comes lots of prep!
If you would like to lend a helping hand we will be:
- Preparing the beds with fresh manure and soil
- Wood chipping the paths
- Re-netting the fruit cage
- Cleaning the polytunnel
- Weeding (always weeding…)
- Weaving in the living willow fence
- Sowing our first crop of seeds!
Hot drinks, biscuits, and pasties provided. Take some seeds of your own to plant at home!
Waterproofs and wellies available to borrow at request, please wear and bring lots of layers to stay warm.
